update...

so...Grant and I *closed* on our house today....well, mostly. We signed all the paper work, and the loan is to be funded tonight so that we get keys Tuesday morning. We had hoped to have the keys tonight so we could move tomorrow...but sometimes things don't work quite as planned. As long as everything goes according to plan we should be moving some things this next week and all the rest next weekend. We have had a super stressful last 2-3 days, but in the end it will all be worth it!

In other news....4 more days of students....two review days for my classes and then two days of finals. The end is in sight!!! It's been an interesting year and a lot more learning has occured in this my second year of teaching. Next year I get to teach two classes of upperclassmen!!! That will be exciting for me:).

That's about it. I think we're going to go out and celebrate with dinner and shrek the third cuz we're fun like that!

Oh, one more thing...I am going to give a short testimony of how God has worked in my life/why I believe in church on June 10th. I really don't know what all I'm going to say, but pray that God will give me just what to say in just the right words (and that I will listen:)).

AND...I am an aunt:). Jude was born on Monday morning and is a very handsome little guy (though I'm sure he's even cuter in real life!). Congrats to Josh and Jill!!!

A Post of Some Substance??

So, Grant got a job as a part-time children's ministry intern at a church here in Springfield (a little over a month ago now...) which means we have a church to attend regularly finally! This in itself is exciting.  Everyone has been super super friendly there, and we like that a lot. The Pastor at the church has been doing a series called "Jesus: Questions You Should Ask."  He has covered things like, Is Jesus Really God? How Human was Jesus? Why Did Jesus Come?  Why is Only Jesus Savior?  and this past week was Where is Jesus Now??

The answer to the last question....as God's right hand...on the throne. Now, these two things (right hand, and throne) speak magnitudes about the God I serve, some of which I think about and some of which I've never really thought about.  One of the things I've never thought about was the meaning of right hand, or maybe the significance of it.  In Scripture alone the right hand is used to give blessings, to extend a hand of friendship as well as other things.  Obviously we use the right hand phrase today to talk about peoples' "right hand man." I haven't fully thought about the implications of Jesus being seated at God's right hand and want to study it more, but it was just something I have heard and never really really thought about.  So more to come on that at some later point perhaps.  The other thing about where Jesus is now is on the throne...and that is something I lose sight of.  He is on the throne ruling above ALL...not just some things or things that I want him to rule over, but ALL THINGS, EVERYTHING in all areas of my life.  but do I really let Him rule over all? That was the convicting question for me.....just something to think about.

Towards the end of his sermon our pastor was getting all kinds of fired up (in a great, passionate way), and closed with talking about Jesus final commands to his disciples...to go and make disciples.  The closing question: "Are you making disciples?"  Now, I know that this can be a sticky question...really we don't "make disciples" I don't think, God has complete control over that, but we play a part in it. He uses us to make disciples...to encourage disciples, to help disciples grow. Beyond this though, am I a disciple? Do I truly follow His ways and try to be obedient to Him?  How can I "make" (encourage, grow, whatever you want to say) disciples if I myself am not focused on the one who sits at the Right Hand of God the Father on the Throne?

How's that for substance?...Just what I've been chewing on the past few days!  Hope all is well for those of you who actually read this!

Just for fun...

So, I'm bored and procrastinating (I have oodles of papers to grade....), so I thought I'd do this just cuz it's funny sometimes. I'm lame...I haven't updated this thing since Dec 11 and I decide to do THIS as an update!! Other updates in my life (real quick like...): still teaching, still liking it, have had a few interesting situations at school to deal with, but it's been good experience, married life is wonderful still, my husband is currently in Las Vegas (yes, Las Vegas!) for week of E which is basically a mission/service trip related to school, this is the last week of the 3rd quarter, which means two entire weeks off, we found a church in Springfield and Grant has his first official ministry job there!, and...that's about it!

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...

Christmas!!!

Man oh man how the year has flown! Our engagement flew by, the summer was gone before I knew it, the new school year started and all of a sudden it's half over!!! Well...in 4 days it will be half over. We get out Friday which is AWESOME! I then get a three week break until January 8. That's pretty much amazing...a nice vacation, though it will be rather packed with things to do.

In other Christmas-ness...our shopping is JUST about done! Only a few more things to get. Tonight I made my first ever batch of sugar cookies. Cute, Christmas cut-out ones at that!!! I bought this tiny cookie cutters from Target that have 12 holiday shapes! They are all baked and cooling, awaiting some fun frosting which will come tomorrow I think. Highly successful baking though. My goal is to make three or so more kinds and take them to school Thursday and Friday for my students and co-workers (those are finals days...). It was fun and I'm proud of my cookies:). My wonderful husband even helped. He was the pro at telling when they were done baking and transferring from cookie sheet to cooling racks as I cut new ones out. Anyway...a super duper fun night of baking! Maybe more cookies to come too. AND all this before the Bears even started!!

That's all...I'm in a festive mood...even if there is a ton that needs done before Friday.  Have a great week!
